Rating: 4 out of 5.

I had actually never read Antigone until this point, although the story was familiar of course. Antigone, the titular character, goes against her uncle the King’s wishes and buries her brother who died in rebellion. It is a very strong tragedy about doing what is right (in Antigone’s case) or not doing that (for the King).

It being Greek tragedy, there are certain aspects in the style which might take a little getting used to, but I adapted quickly and it didn’t bother me.

  1. This was the first thing I read in college that remember making me really angry. Everyone was so stubborn.

    1. Yes, indeed. I think the conflict in many tragedies could have been averted if the people had been less stubborn…

After a day of work, Marjolein likes to wind down with a book or two, or five! Unapologetic reader of at the very least three books at any given time, she apparently is unable to settle on a favorite genre.

She might pause her audiobook just long enough to discuss books online.
