Me:

A 31yo scientist with a PhD in Biomedical Sciences.

During the day I help fight Cystic Fibrosis, at night I am an avid reader, movie & theater goer.

Originally from The Netherlands,
but living in Belgium for the past decade.

You may find me on Bookstagram, The Storygraph, GoodReads, LibraryThing, and Netgalley.

Definitely feminist.

I like to think I have always been a reader, and have been discussing books online in one way or another since about 2009. This is also when I started keeping track of my books by myself and later also via GoodReads and now on The Storygraph.

My reading really set off while I was at University. Here, I also discovered Netgalley and both my reading and TBR went through the roof.

In 2016, I completed the one-book-a-day challenge (366 books), and with the exception of 2021 (when I was in a devastating reading slump for a large part of the year) I read >200 books a year.

I read almost exclusively in English, with here and there a Dutch book if it was originally published in Dutch. I started around the time I finished high school, and the selection of available books was so much bigger (in truth almost anxiety inducing), that I preferred it.

Nevertheless, I do very much enjoy translated fiction from all over the world (Recommendations always welcome!) and I read across all genres, although there have been some genres such as crime fiction, that I don’t read as much as I used to.

I read a mix of paper books, mixed with eBooks (I have two Kindle Paperwhites and both a Kobo Glo and Clara) and, especially the last two years also a lot of audio.

Let me know if there’s anything else you would like to know!
