This is a weird story. A man wakes up to find his nose missing and for him, this is the end of the world. How can he ever go out in public again, how could someone possibly take him serious ever again? This is rather absurd of course, and there is very little logic in this story, but it does somehow make an amusing read.
The Nose (Little Black Classics #46) – Nikolai Gogol
I hadn’t looked at the author when I read this, but absurd would definitely seem to fit 😀

Though, I have to admit, the idea of having no nose is rather hard to stomach. Reminds me of the stories from WWI about the iron masks injured/maimed soldiers wore. Also, Voldemort.

Certainly. I hadn’t thought yet of the WWI soldiers yet – Voldemort of course is synonymous with noseless for me 😉
