Goodreads Monday #1

Today I was very excited about my latest addition to the Mt.TBR, so much so that I decided to join in on the Goodreads Mondays. It is hosted by Lauren’s Page Turner, and it is really simple. Pick a book from the TBR and explain why you want to read it.

My last new book is False Value. I was really excited for it, it was even a pre-order (of this particular edition, the book itself was published some months ago). I was very pleased that it was already sent out one day before the publication date so it was delivered on pub day (maybe this is standard and it goes to show just how often I pre-order 😅). I haven’t started yet, but I will do so soon!

It is the eight installment in one of my favorite series. If you haven’t read it yet, you should start reading Rivers of London yesterday! It features a mixed-race police constable/detective who gets recruited by the London police’s magical department. As a big fan of London and British humor I couldn’t resist this series. There is love for London on every single page. There has been a lot of growth for Peter, the MC, over the books, and I just hope they will finally close on long-running storyline which has gone one long enough now if you ask me.

Peter Grant is facing fatherhood, and an uncertain future, with equal amounts of panic and enthusiasm. Rather than sit around, he takes a job with émigré Silicon Valley tech genius Terrence Skinner’s brand new London start up – the Serious Cybernetics Company.

Drawn into the orbit of Old Street’s famous ‘silicon roundabout’, Peter must learn how to blend in with people who are both civilians and geekier than he is. Compared to his last job, Peter thinks it should be a doddle. But magic is not finished with Mama Grant’s favourite son.

Because Terrence Skinner has a secret hidden in the bowels of the SCC. A technology that stretches back to Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage, and forward to the future of artificial intelligence. A secret that is just as magical as it technological – and just as dangerous.

Have you read Rivers of London? Or False Value? What are you excited to read next? – Please let me know in the comments!

  1. I’ve seen this book series around but I always hesitate to pick it up because there are quite a few books in the series, right? Lol I’m so bad with finishing series as it is 😂 but I do like the sound of it! Plus I love the covers as well! Hope you enjoy this one 🙂

    1. Yes, this is book 8, although I can’t find any information on 9 yet. When I started it was only three books and I had no clue what I was committing to since there are also novellas and graphic novels. But I really enjoy the world in this series, so I am looking forward to it a lot!

Hope you will enjoy it as well if you give it a try! Make sure to let me know since I would be very curious to hear about it 😀
